This blog written in 2009 sums travelling for some people ....what do you think?

Ok, so lets face it we have to travel so lets look at the best way to deal with it....
This is going to be a major task, and at the moment we don't know where to even start.
Ok, guys lets look how we get to whatever you are going...
A road trip....
Utterly, utterly Utterly boring....

You probably won't get a choice in the matter, when it comes to the mode of transport being used.
If you are travelling on your own continent, or with a few hundred miles or kilometres of your home it might be car.
Most family cars are now fairly large so at least you should get a reasonable amount of room. This depends on who of course you sharing with. An annoying sibling is pretty dire, but it could be worse !! You could be sitting next to Grandma.
You can guess what comes next, can't you?
The IN CAR TRAVEL GAMES ... (Don't throw up) There is of course I SPY

There are more too, but you are almost certainly not the slightest bit interested in any of them.

The only option really is a decent selection of music on your iPhone or tablet. Your parents might be human enough to let you play video games and watch DVDs at least some of the way, even though they are going to be obsessing by you benefitting from the WHOLE EXPERIENCE.
(And anyway I am too young to die)
Sometimes you might be required to take a long journey by car, or worst still a coach..

By coach is the worst unless you are the sort of person who is happy to talk to anyone, and lets face it, it really could be ANYONE.
Most people are of course going to be very NICE, unlikely to be murderers or terrorists. Many are just trying to find the cheapest way to get from A to B.
That is unless you are on a coach holiday which if you are under 70 years ol you might want to avoid at all cost.
This can be an extremely unpleasant experience if you end up sitting next to the wrong person.
The best advice is you have to travel this way is to ensure that you keep the seat next to you empty if you can. If not then at least sit next to your Dad, or even your little brother. It is almost guaranteed that will be better than sitting next to anyone else.
If things do get better, and you discover there is someone else you want to talk to then you will might able to swap..
If all else fails just stick your headphones on, and leave them in for the whole trip

Unless you are one of those unfortunate people afraid of flying then this really the only way to travel.
If you are afraid of flying ... well try to get over it
It simply eats up the miles, getting you to your destination or at least near it fairly quickly.
The downsides are that is rather like a coach so on a long haul trip if you get stuck next to someone who
Sorry... Just remember you are never likely to meet them again.
It might just be a case of putting your headphones on again, or as a last resort feigning sleep.

Things to enjoy on a flight if you decide you are going to like it can be the TAKE OFF and LANDING which is pretty exciting stuff. If it is in daylight most people are usually at least impressed by seeing the land fall away as the plane climbs up into the clouds, cars and people being reduced to the size of ants before they disappear.
If you are flying at night you will only see a few lights disappear below you, pretty boring really
LANDING can be fun. The Italians always clap their pilot enthusiastically when the plane hits the tarmac. If it is a bumpy landing the applause is a little slow in coming but it always does.
A job well done ...

- MOANS ABOUT EVERYTHING

If you have to cross any strip of water you might need to take a ferry. These are not usually very long trips. The main benefit too is that once the car or coach you are travelling is on board you will be free to walk around for the duration of the voyage. There are usually some game arcades, duty free shops and Televisions. There will be plenty of opportunities to escape those you are travelling with if you want. The food is reasonable too, at least better than it is on a plane anyway.
The biggest downside is that if the crossing is a long one, and your stingy parents don't provide a cabin then you will have to find a comfortable corner to crash in.

Things could be worse, you could be forced to go on a cruise. This is a pretty dire unless you like joining in.
There is really nowhere to escape to, as although the facilities are usually amazing and the food is good, you will be stuck at sea unable to get very far away from anyone.
When you dock there will opportunities to visit places like old ruins ( exciting stuff ) but these are fairly brief. Before long you will be dragged back onto the ship again to enjoy the HAPPY CREW!

Trains

Exciting isn't it ? If you think so get out there ... The trains are waiting.
BICYCLE
If you like riding a bike then this too is an amazing way to travel, as you certainly get to see plenty of stuff on the route...
If not then maybe it is better to stay at home or go to Grandmas. That is unless she is coming with you
Whatever you do, make the best of it... You might as well, and one day you might actually remember something you saw when you were being dragged across the world on train, boat or plane
